Madison Contra Dance Cooperative: In general, Contra Dances happen with live fiddlers at the Gates of Heaven historic synagogue at James Madison Park, 302 E Gorham St.  It is raucous and great fun.  The doors open at 7:30 with dancing starting with a caller about 7:45 pm.  Beginners are always welcome.

Madison Folk Dance Club: Meets every Wednesday and Sunday evenings at 7:30 - 8:30 pm for teaching and dance requests 8:30 - 11:00 pm.  Meeting place: in good weather, Library Mall between Memorial Library and the fountain; in bad weather, the basement of “The Crossings” at 1127 University Ave at Charter St. intersection. Folklore Village: Located near Dodgeville, has regularly scheduled barn dances on the first Saturday of the month and features fun folk mixers, square dance and contra dancing. Check their website for up-to-date events: http://www.folklorevillage.org
