“LET’S MEET UP” ACTIVITY
International Fest at the Overture Center
Saturday, March 6
Here is an activity where fellow Skilaufers, their friends and, if desired, children can gather together to pick and choose various venues within the fest to enjoy together. I personally look forward to this event every year. It is free to the public, except for one performance by Sones de Mexico that is available at a nominal ticket price of $12.00 at 4:00 pm in the Capitol Theatre. (Suggestion, buy the ticket ahead of time).
At this wonderful International Fest, you can watch and listen to musical and dance performances as well as join in and dance. Check out the website http://www.overturecenter.com/community/international-fest/performance schedule for descriptions of performances available from the countries of Brazil, Canada, Lithuania, Middle East, Scotland, Greece, India, Russia and Eastern Europe, West Africa, Chinese. For your own dancing and listening pleasure, the beat to Chinese, Cuban, Mexican, Celtic and Cajun music is performed by local cultural groups and bands.
Also available to add to the fun of the event is an International Cafe and a Craft Bazaar.
LET’S MEET UP: The event starts at 11:00 am in the Overture Hall Lobby, Level 1 with the unique and awesome sound of Swiss Alphorns, and the Traditional Chinese Lion Dance performance at 11:10 am.
This provides a perfect place and opportunity to meet up for the day’s activities. I will be the contact person and will be near the staircase in the Overture Hall Lobby at about 10:30 am. Please let me know if you will be meeting with me so that I can be watching for you; or if you decide at the last minute to come, make a point to be at the steps no later than 11:15 am. Print a schedule off of the Overture Center website or pick up a schedule upon arrival so we can decide what we want to do with our time together.
