Join Skilaufers for an adult camping-biking-tubing weekend in northwestern

Wisconsin the weekend of August 20-22.  The cost is $55/member ($65/non-member),

which includes a tube rental for the river trip.  We will camp at Red Barn Campground

(www.redbarncampground.com) 1 block from the shores of Shell Lake.  A 10 mile

paved road around the lake will provide a pleasant bike path, and there are other

bike trails in the area for those that want to do more biking.  On Saturday afternoon

we will have a leisurely tubing trip down the National Scenic Namekagon River

(www.jackscanoerental.com/Namekagon%20river.htm); kayaks and canoes are

also available for rental, if you prefer.  A fishing boat is available for those who

want to try their luck fishing for walleye or muskie on Shell Lake, or we can soak

up the sun on the beach and swim in the clear waters at Joan Quenan’s house.

We will have a Friday night Potluck at the campsite, but Joan will be there all day

Friday if you wish to arrive early in the day.  Saturday & Sunday morning breakfasts

will be provided; we will eat out at a restaurant on Saturday evening; lunches are

on your own.  Registrations will be taken until Monday, August 16.  Please call

Directions:  Shell Lake is 4 hours from Madison.  Follow interstate 90-94 to Eau Claire;

take the first Eau Claire exit onto US 53 north – follow signs to Superior on US 53 to

bypass Eau Claire. In about 90 miles you will come to Washburn County B and the sign

to Shell Lake; turn left on B and travel 3 miles to Red Barn Campground on the right

side of the road.
